And they cast Ian Somerholder??? *sigh* It’s all about the eyes. Okay, so it’s mostly about the eyes.
I haven’t read these in years, but I used to be totally addicted to LJ Smith. That was before the resurgence/rise of paranormal/urban fantasy in both adult and YA fiction. Back when I was working in a bookstore, and one of my fellow employees kept trying to shelve LKH’s Anita Blake books in the YA section, with authors like LJ Smith, because all she saw was “Oh, vampires + vampire slayer = Buffy”. I doubt she would make the same mistake now. 🙂
Clearly I have to read The Vampire Diaries immediately. But I find myself already approving this casting choice. Mmmmmmmm, Ian Somerhalder.

Great. Now I may have to watch this! But it’s on the CW, right? So I still have my doubts…

Um, remember, before the CW it WAS the WB and they brought us Buffy! So… don’t cross it off… yet!

The CW, huh? Well…it could still be good. Plus, I’d watch Ian playing a really hot anti-hero with smoking intensity any day. The rest of the cast? Who cares?
Okay, so I care about Elena, too. And it would be nice to get good actors for everyone. But I’ll probably only really be watching Ian when he’s onscreen. 😀

This is so exciting! (I read the LJ Smith books when first published–back when I was a teen. I still love them because of a serious case of nostalgia.) I can’t wait to see what they do with the material.
