Watch “Moulin Rouge” with me tonight and WIN BOOKS!

Posted on August 8, 2013

Not only can you watch Baz Luhrmann’s gloriously over the top “Moulin Rouge” with me (and, hopefully, other film fans) on Twitter tonight, but you can also win autographed books. Want to know how?

First of all, show up tonight for “Moulin Rouge,” starting at 8:30 p.m. CST. Watch along by following the #moulinrouge hashtag. (And, if you are not in the mood to see a couple hours’ worth of “Moulin Rouge” tweets, go ahead and unfollow for one night — but I hope you come back soon!) Then, during the huge Roxanne number — you know the one — when Satine is rescued from the Duke by the musician/dancer Chocolat, it is your TIME TO ACT.

Tweet at me, then, “THANK GOD FOR CHOCOLAT! #moulinrouge”.

(This is what my friends Karen and Jennifer and I used to whisper to each other every time we saw this in theaters. Which was a lot of times. I kind of love “Moulin Rouge.” And yes, it’s kind of silly that this is the character’s name, but so it is.)

EVERYONE who tweets at me “THANK GOD FOR CHOCOLAT!” is automatically entered to win one of my books, either FATEFUL or AFTERLIFE, which I will personalize, autograph and send to you. There are a total of eight (8) potential prizes, so it’s pretty much first-come, first-served (and while I realize that the movies will not be playing in perfect synch for us all, no fair tweeting it crazy early.) Will heed preferences for which book you want but, obviously, if we have eight winners, you might not get your first choice. And yes, I’ll ship overseas.

(The usual disclaimers: I will be reading all your tweets to me under the #moulinrouge hashtag, but if I don’t reply or retweet right away, don’t be offended; I will be trying hard NOT to get thrown in Twitter Jail again. If I suddenly go silent during the movie, it means that I have been put in Twitter Jail; come to the blog for updates on when we’ll finish the movie. And FYI, I have this on DVD and my DVD player has been acting weird, so there may be technical difficulties, but let’s keep our fingers crossed.)

So what are you waiting for? Oh, yeah, the movie. Again, we get started at 8:30 pm CST tonight!
