Share my bliss

Posted on May 29, 2008

Last weekend — which feels like it was about ten years ago — I went to Balticon in Baltimore to meet folks, hang out with friends and talk up Evernight. Great fun was had by all, at least at the panels I attended: “GLBT issues in YA SciFi,” “42 Reasons You Should Write YA” and “Vampires.” The Vampires panel was at midnight, was tremendous fun and gave me a chance to talk with the fabulous Jeri Smith-Ready (the author of Wicked Game) and the wunderbar Tony Ruggerio, who has a whole slew of vampire books. I imagine that the person who owns this car was at the panel, though I forgot to ask:

Then, on Tuesday night, I made the ritual bookstore pilgrimage and finally saw it:

Eeeeeeeeeee!

If you are making your own bookstore pilgrimages for the book, don’t forget Evernight Contest #6: Take a picture of yourself with Evernight and the receipt, and you could win a $100 gift certificate and the right to name a character in the fourth book in the series! You can e-mail entries to me at evernightclaudia at gmail dot com, or post them in the linked thread. I love the ones I’ve seen so far!

If I get a thrill seeing your book on shelves at BN, I can’t even imagine what it’s like for you. I’m half-way through right now and in awe.

    Cool number plate!

And a stack of your books! Yay!
I’m really hoping there will be copies of it when I get to a bookshop next week.

Thanks muchly! I hope it will be there! (Some Borders seem to be getting it late.)

I not only has the book, but I, uh, might have read it reallyreallyfastbecauseIcouldn’twaittofindouthwhathappenednext. ::coughs::

I don’t want to be spoilery here, so I’ll just say that I loved it, especially the fabulous plot twists that I *so* didn’t see coming. The matter-of-fact tone makes it all the more fabulous.

Basically, I love your worldbuilding and I can’t wait for more books 🙂

Thank you so much! I’m delighted that you liked it, and didn’t guess the plot twists, knowing me as you do.

      Re: Kindle Edition?!?!

I’ve asked my editor — no reply yet. I’ll post here when I know something!

        Re: Kindle Edition?!?!

        Thanks Claudia!
I look daily on Amazon to see if it’s available!

Thanks for checking and I hope to see it soon!
I might have to go out a buy this one. But for now I have plenty to read on the Kindle so I’ll wait a bit longer.

    Vampire Plates

I believe the plates belong to a BSFS member. Just can’t remember who.

There is also a BSFS member, who has the plate “Vampyre” on their black 199? Firehawk. Sadly it needs repairs and they are thinking of selling to a collector. I will ask James and Jamie for a photo, with all the goth stickers, on the back window.

      Re: Vampire Plates

Please do let this BSFS member know that I am not actually stalking them.

And yes, I’d love a photo of the Firehawk!

OMG are those in the background ALL YA books? I’ve never seen that many in one place before – but I promise you, the moment Evernight comes to my part of South Africa, I will buy it.
    Love the cover btw.

    • admin

All YA! Yes, I see we need to work on shipments to South Africa.

I am so glad you like the cover. It’s even prettier in person, IMHO.

Hey there! I just read the first couple of chapters of “Evernight” on the Harper Collins website — a couple of friends who are fans of another vampire book (you probably know which I’m talking about!) recommended it and I have to say, at first, I was skeptical because of some similarities. However! I really like your writing style and it looks like your story is going in a completely different direction…I’m pretty much hooked.

Haha! I’ll probably pick it up from B&N on the way home today. Congrats on the release! 🙂

    Are you writing another book?!

hi! I just bought Evernight and I couldn’t put it down XD
Wah! PLEASE tell me you’re writing a second?!?! I want Lucas and her to be together T_T hehe

Re: Are you writing another book?!

The second and third books in the series are already written! So there will be more Bianca and Lucas in STARGAZER, coming in March. So glad you enjoyed it!

It was great meeting you last weekend (er, the weekend before last). I saw that car, too–so cool!

Congrats on the first sighting of your book in the wild! I’ll be sure to pick one up this week. 🙂 Can’t wait!

    • admin

In the wild — yes, that’s the right way to put it! Great to meet you too, and please stay in touch!

    Hey Claudia!
Would you also like to see a picture of me, your book and the receipt of GERMAN Amazon in your contest? 😀 I ordered your book yesterday, because someone wrote about it on and it sounded interesting to me. I think i’ll get your book in 12-14 days, hopefully. 🙂 Can’t wait to read it! 🙂

    • admin

Oh, wow, I had no idea the German version was out already! Yes, please send the pic on once the book arrives!

      • xtra_ordinary

The german version isn’t out already, unfortunately. I ordered the English version. I like to read books in the original languages, most translations aren’t as good as the words the author used. I’ll get the Harper Collins version. 🙂

Hey Claudia, it’s me again! 😀
I received “Evernight” last Wednesday and started reading Sunday, after i finished Trudi Canavan’s “The Black Magician Trilogy”. 😉
What can I say? I read your book in two days, although it’s written in English! 😀 I just couldn’t lay it down – i read in bed before sleeping, in the train, during my lectures (i know that i shouldn’t do that ^^), while i was walking home (why are people stumble in my way all the time?? :P). “Evernight” is great, i had very much fun reading it! And now i’m finished and can’t wait to read “Stargazer” in Winter.

Oh, and here’s a picture of me, the book and the GERMAN amazon bill – so you can show everyone that your book already made it’s way to Europe within a month after the release. 😀
