quick situation report from the Pitch Black tour!

Posted on October 28, 2008

We’re in Southern California in a beachside hotel, with a balcony and a view and everything. I could almost believe that being an author is glamorous — if I hadn’t been lumping my bags through the Boston airport at OMGearly this morning. However, I am having a lot of fun on the tour, especially getting to meet so many of you. And I haven’t dropped dead of fright during even one of the readings so far! (You might well ask how I could possibly do this more than once, but given that these are vampire books we’re talking about, and it is the week of Halloween, let’s not make any rash assumptions about death being a one-time thing.)

It’s time for me to get ready for the Huntington Beach reading tonight, and then Redmond is tomorrow. It’s all rushing by so quickly! But I hope I get to meet more of you soon.

    It was nice meeting you.
I’m not a very good question asker or talker.
I wanted to ask you do the Black Cross hunters and the
vampires work together for a particular reason?
    Thanks!

Hi, Pretty! I definitely remember meeting you.

As a general rule, Black Cross hunters and vampires don’t work together at all. However, there are a few exceptions to this — some of which you learn about in Stargazer. There are some vampires who will sell out others of their kind for their own purposes, and there are also a few emergencies that might ask even vampires and vampire hunters work together. But very few.

    SoCal? Where?

Will you be visiting any bookstores in the San Diego area? I would love to bring a few students to meet you. Do you have a release date for Stargazer?

It’s great weather right now… 90* and sunny! It’s a bit dry, but still beautiful.

    Thanks so much!

I did have fun, and I’m so glad you did too! And that I didn’t come across as a total goof.

    Hi Claudia,

It was so nice to meet you, and the tour was great. Are you planning on having another tour for your next book? I hope you do!!

      Re: From Van

Hi, Van — it was great meeting you too! I don’t know about any plans to tour for the next book; the publisher makes more choices about that than I do. Today I sort of feel like I never want to leave my house again, but ask me again in a few days, and I’m sure I’ll be rarin’ to go.
