Book Tour, Halloween Contest!

Posted on October 24, 2008

OK, I’m mostly packed and sort of ready to go — no, not back to South America, though you know I’m already dreaming about that. What I mean is that tomorrow is the first day of the PITCH BLACK TOUR! I will be hitting the road with fellow vamp scribes Nancy Collins (Vamps) and Ellen Schreiber (Vampire Kisses) for a whirlwind five-city, six-day tour.

Just to refresh y’all’s memories about the dates, places and times:

Pitch Black Tour Dates

Saturday, Oct. 25: 2 p.m. at Anderson’s Bookshop in NAPERVILLE, IL

Sunday, Oct. 26: 3 p.m. at Borders in PORTLAND, ME

Monday, Oct. 27: 7 p.m. at Barnes & Noble in FRAMINGHAM, MA

Tuesday, Oct. 28: 7 p.m. at Barnes & Noble in HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA

Wednesday, Oct. 29: 6:30 p.m. at Borders in REDMOND, WA

Please come out if you can! I would love to meet any and all of you. We’ll have trivia contests, readings, Q&A time and goody bags.

Should I survive to the end of the tour, I’ll return to New York City just in time for Halloween. This, plus the discovery of one last copy of Immortal: Love Stories With Bite, has inspired me to hold another contest.

Tell me your favorite Halloween costume!

Yep, that’s it. You can comment here or at my MySpace page, or email me through the website. (Please include your name and a contact email when you do so!) One winner will be chosen at random on Halloween, and that lucky person will win this very last copy of Immortal, the romantic vampire anthology so awesome NO ONE could find it in stores. 😉

ETA: I knew I was forgetting something! Check out the claudiagray.com website, in particular the extras page; there you will find new wallpapers and icons, some of which are ever-so-slightly spoilery for Stargazer. For fans who have read the book in Spanish or Catalan, you’ll see a few downloads with some slightly more familiar cover art. Hope you guys like!

My favorite costume everrrr was my Alice in Wonderland costume. No lie. Usually my mom put together costumes from real clothes- a communion dress turned me into a bride, a blue-and-white gingham dress with red glitter flats made me Dorothy- but this was an honest-to-god Disney-approved Alice in Wonderland costume. It had the blue cotton dress and the white apron which had the White Rabbit embroidered on it. Add a headband and BADA BING. In business.

    It was awesome.

I can’t decide what my favorite costume was, the ‘Cousin It’ one that my mom made out of a fuzzy tan colored blanket and a whole lot of yarn (that thing lasted for several years) or when I dressed as La Llorana (spanish urban legand). I had decided to go out at the last minute that year and mom whipped up another costume out of old curtain lace and sheets. I think I’ll go with the La Llorana costume as my favorite one.

My favorite costume, hands down, was my Wednesday Addams costume. My dress had the white collar and I wore tights and sprayed my hair black and put it in braids. And I put make up on my face to make me even paler than normal. It was so awesome.

Stupid me, I forgot to add that I will be seeing you on the Pitch Black tour. (Just be aware that I’ll be under a different name- pseudonyms FTW) I haven’t read your book yet- tomorrow I will!- or Nancy’s or Ellen’s (I’m buying them when I go to the bookstore at the event, so I’m pretty sure I’m out of the running for a trivia contest if it’s on your guys’ books. xD)

For me it was the year that I just could not decide between being a vampiress or a dark fairy. So the night of giving out candies, I went with a pirate-ish dark fairy costume, and the next night to go out I was an uber-vampiress! 🙂

My favorite costume idea is something local radio personality Dave Rickards came up with. Don’t have all the details, but it includes one of those giant styrofoam fingers you see at sporting events, a football helmet, and a shirt that proclaims that ceilings are number one. That’s right, Dave is going as a ceiling fan.

One year Dave went dressed as Sigmund Freud from the waist up, and wearing a slip below the waste. You got it, he was a Freudian slip.

    Favorite Costume

My favorite Halloween costume would definitely have to be dressing
up as Waldo. Waldo was the main character in a series of books
that you had to search for.
It was an original costume that I really liked wearing.

I’ll see you on Tuesday! I can’t wait even though I probably
    won’t say much.

Oh, you should! I saw her today in Portland, Maine, and she was so very nice and funny and smart! Ask her where her favorite place to travel is – she likes to travel a lot.

My favorite Halloween costume(s)are Jack and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas. To me they are an iconic love couple, Sally’s dress is adorable with all of the colorful patches, Jack’s suit is always stylish, the movie is phenomenal, and I love what they represent. TO me they represent real love, happily ever after, and uniqueness.

I was Demeter, Greek goddess of the harvest, at the tender age of 8, which was fun, because I got to be a character who defies the king of the gods AND wear something sparkly. 🙂
